Services

The Illinois Jaycees have been a long-time supporter of Camp New Hope. Located in Matoon, Illinois is a 40-acre campground.

The respite program is like a weekend mini-camp for a person with developmental disabilities who lives at home. People who live in group homes are not eligible, because one of the camp's goals is to help people keep their loved ones in their home by giving them a break for a while. Respite typically starts at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and ends at noon the following Sunday.

Year 'Round Respite Program
This program is an opportunity for parents to take a break from caring for their child. They can use the time to reconnect with other family members, spouses, or just take time for themselves. Our respite program is very special because individuals come to our facility instead of the respite workers going into the homes.

Winter Camp
This special program operates during the school holidays. We combine traditional summer camp fun, such as games and crafts, with sledding and outdoor winter activities. Bowling Leagues are held in Charleston and in Mattoon during the school year.

Families and caregivers provide transportation to and from the camp. The camp staff provides overnight, continuous care, meals, and activities.
