Picking A Switch

Pick a switch that will:

  1. not cause a person undue fatigue or pain. It should not compromise good muscle tone.
  2. use a body part that will give the person best control over the switch.
  3. that is consistent with the person’s exertion when hitting the switch. (sensitive touch vs. a gross motor pounding)
  4. that matches the person’s targeting ability.
  5. match the person’s range of motion.
  6. that plays to the person’s perceptual skills. (does the person need feedback that the switch was activated?)
  7. that can be conveniently located within reach. (not too close OR too far).
